FISL 9.0 - random thoughts

After three days of intensive activities within FISL I finally got some rest. But i can complain about working that much because it was very worthwhile. It’s hard to know a better place to meet and chat with big guys like Fábio Akita, Chris Hoffman, Márcio Galli, Dennis Gilmore and Scott Ananian just to cite a few names. Besides just meetings, we’ve shared many ideas, did some ‘hacking’, knew new technologies and integrated communities.
There’s even more good news: Game Jam 2008 was a total success. I was afraid many teams wouldn’t apply to the competition because they could wanted to go the FISL talks instead. Luckily, I was proven totally wrong. We had 8 teams and the games developed during the 30 hours period were so awesome that it’s hard to believe they were made in such a little time. For this week, I’m planning to clean up and organize the Game Jam wiki, adding the game reviews from the kids, adding pictures of the games and their source code to download as well. Later on, I’ll post some pictures or videos of the games in my blog.
Although FISL not being the best place to gather gifts i got many gadgets as you can see bellow. Most of them were provided by Mozilla Foundation and Google. The google ones are the results of good chats with google guys that i can’t remember their names
. Mozilla foundation also gave a nice party at Zelig. They closed the upper stairs area and filled the tables with many snacks and a bar with beverages in one corner. All i can say is Mozilla 10 years party was top notch, hehehe!
